Kill your own service. I really don't care

They have literally no competition so that doesn’t really work when no one has an alternative.

I mean do we really think YouTube is worried about Vimeo or Peertube? I bet they don’t receive even .01% of the traffic and there is no way as much money is exchanging hands for creators/advertisers/etc. YT is basically its own self contained industry at this point only competing with twitch and video games writ large for eyeballs.

Also, go ahead and lose users for your web browser.

This seems to apply only to Adblock and not UBlock, (I have both installed on chrome) and it only gets laggy with Adblock enabled 👀

uBlock Origin dev recently said the issue is specifically Adblock Plus 3.22 and AdBlock 5.17

Further down that thread he also calls this Tom's Hardware article a failure to properly investigate and inform people

Ouch!, he’s not wrong tho. Interesting thread 🤯

It's bad practice to have more than one adblocker running, they can interfere with each other. Use only Ublock Origin.

I did not know that, thank you 🤓

Why don’t they just come out and say it loads slower for anyone who isn’t a subscriber…

I love when you use it with private browsing in Firefox.

It loads all the way, starts to play, then reloads the whole thing again. Fuck alone knows why.

Billions of dollars, and that's what you get.

use an ad speedup extension to speed through the ad

If you're just looking to use youtube without having to suffer through ads, try out the chrome extension called Clear Skies. I just started using it and found it to be super minimal on my computer's memory and makes youtube usable.
