This type of shellfish is farmed in Baja California, on the Pacific Ocean side if I'm not mistaken, where the water is much cooler than in the Sea Of Cortez. It goes by a similar name but in Spanish - Callo Garra De León, or Lion's Claw.
Lots of communities are dedicated to nature's big pictures, the breathtaking vistas and scenic landscapes. Those are all great, but I find the details of the natural world to be just as much of a draw.
