There's footage of random censored circles appearing over the best ones, like the guillotine. Before the end every reference will be erased. U/Spez is a Muak count wannabe.

[-] TheGoldenGod@lemmy.world 32 points 1 year ago

The fact they were erased, shows Spez’ hurt and encourages anyone who’s taken the time to do this to continue. They know they’ve found where he’s ticklish.

[-] average650@lemmy.world 15 points 1 year ago

Can you link to that footage?

[-] LemmyNameMyself@lemmy.world 73 points 1 year ago

The best way to protest is to not participate

[-] TheGoldenGod@lemmy.world 53 points 1 year ago

While I understand the sentiment, Spez was astroturfing when I left, and appears he still is. If a chunk of users chose to lurk to twist his nipples, let them. It’s their time and and if anyone deserves trolling, it’s the guy who had thousands of alts.

"I'm going to own my ex-girlfriend by mailing her a check for $100 and writing 'fuck you' on the memo line. When she deposits the money into her bank account she will be totally trolled."

[-] JPAKx4 16 points 1 year ago

Well, when they IPO this is the kind of stuff that will turn off potential investors, so that's where it'll hurt spez.

Do you honestly think it'll hurt their valuation because somebody said something mean about the CEO? You do realize some of the most profitable companies on this planet have nearly universally hated CEOs, right? Being hated is like 90% of the job because they take the heat for the company as a whole.

Engagement metrics are up, that's all that counts.

[-] baked_tea@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago

The real numbers here would be close to $ 0.00001 which would be more than acceptable prank

[-] gaylord_fartmaster@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Each click adds up to a number on a PowerPoint slide presented in investment meetings.

"...and here's how we'll monetize it!"

[-] Shialac@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

This is more like 1000 checks with 0.001$

[-] TheGoldenGod@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I never said I would do it myself, but it’s their time to waste. Not to mention with everything the way it is, sometimes people have to choose the battles they stand for.

[-] XbSuper@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Would've been hilarious if nobody participated. Just a blank sheet for the entire time.

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 73 points 1 year ago

They put a huge American flag over all the 'fuck spez' stuff. I would be amazed if that wasn't due to admin interference.

[-] prettydarknwild@lemmy.world 49 points 1 year ago

people tried to turn the stars into fuck spez, but it quickly dissapeared, its obvious that the admins did it

[-] empireOfLove@lemmy.one 38 points 1 year ago

Anyone expecting anything different were wearing some very heavily tinted rose colored glasses.

[-] w00tabaga@lemm.ee 25 points 1 year ago

Everyone just needs to never go to Reddit again… the the real “fuck u/spez “

[-] 001100010010@lemmy.dbzer0.com 17 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Some are still there. I think most people who hate steve already decided they had enough and logged off

[-] Mereo@lemmy.ca 15 points 1 year ago

Please people, do not participate. Reddit can easily report these engagements as a positive to investors.

[-] A_A@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

For anyone out of the loop this is about :
www.reddit.com/r/place
it's a composite image made by voting pixels into a large image.
The "nice messages for spez" are mostly :
"f u c k you spez" addressed to the CEO of Reddit.

[-] adude007@lemmy.ml 10 points 1 year ago

The verge has good coverage of it. The guillotine in the French flag was great.

[-] lemann@lemmy.one 3 points 1 year ago

The French knocked it out the park with this one 😂 nobody's gonna forget about this for a while
