How boring. Another VER-HUL front row, just like everyone predicted.

[-] MadCybertist@kbin.social -1 points 2 years ago

Honestly, this is why I have started watching less and less of Formula 1 and more and more of IndyCar.

I just like that in Indy things seem to be a bit more unpredictable race to race.

I think you misunderstood my comment

Leclerc going insane being stuck at Ferrari

[-] listener17@sh.itjust.works 12 points 2 years ago

It's sad to see. He made the right call and Ferrari pit wall were too focused on what Redbull were doing.

I have no clue why Ferrari still think they are competing with Redbull.

[-] smokelessndepressed@lemmy.world 9 points 2 years ago

Leclerc is also making some mistakes but Ferrari strategies aren't even funny anymore. They never make the right call. Firing Binotto, the guy that made the scuderia competitive again didn't solve anything, they are a lot worse than last season. Sainz is getting points but you can't win a championship with someone like him if you don't have the best car in the grid.

[-] wes@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago

At this point it’s not even funny anymore

[-] WhiteHawk@lemmy.world 21 points 2 years ago

Checo failing to make Q3 in the best car for the 3rd time in a row. Jesus.

[-] toastedcaps@sh.itjust.works 15 points 2 years ago

Time to bring in Danny Ric?

A man can dream

[-] lackthought 5 points 2 years ago

more likely Yuki gets promoted imo

[-] baldingpudenda@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

I think Yuki will have Albon like performance because of the pressure.

It’s very cool to see this discussion happening here. The only thing keeping me on Reddit is the communities so this is awesome.

Now I just need Avacado to get a drive for next season and life is good.

[-] genuineparts@feddit.de 19 points 2 years ago

Oof Perez.... is not having a good time lately.

[-] SonyJunkie@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago

Yes, he's gone from being 1 point off the championship lead to more than 2 wins behind in the space of 3-4GP's!! I think that whole "king of the streets" thing has affected him.

[-] topeconhilo@lemmy.world 13 points 2 years ago

I wish this was Q3 because I need Albon on pole!

[-] toastedcaps@sh.itjust.works 8 points 2 years ago

Solid tire strategy play by Williams

[-] wreel 12 points 2 years ago

Albon Q2 MVP. Perfect timing

[-] wreel 12 points 2 years ago
[-] riotrick@lemmy.world 5 points 2 years ago

No. Nico Huuuuulkenberg!

[-] wes@lemmy.world 12 points 2 years ago

Sainz definitely getting a penalty for impeding Gasly

[-] ThiccSemperTyrannis@lemmy.world 8 points 2 years ago

Definitely, it's honestly kinda baffling from Sainz and Ferrari (although maybe it shouldn't be) that in such a bunched-up session neither demonstrated any awareness of the positional situation

[-] melonpunk@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago

Sainz sitting in the middle of the road for Albon was terrible. Made me wince watching.

[-] smokelessndepressed@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Sainz should have a proper penalty, it's not the first time this season. I don't care if it's the teams fault, they are going to cause a serious crash if he keeps driving like this.

[-] wes@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago

I don't think it's only the team's fault, he has mirrors and especially on that part of the track + driving so slowly there is just no excuse.

[-] pythagoras@kbin.social 10 points 2 years ago

Perez did well to nearly get into Q3 with such a dog of a car

[-] melonpunk@lemmy.world 7 points 2 years ago

Perez and LeClerc future teams mates? Feels like they’re starting to run a similar pattern of mistakes and missed chances.

[-] ThiccSemperTyrannis@lemmy.world 7 points 2 years ago

Woohoo! Papaya party in Q3! Shocking for Charles and Checo. Can we have changing conditions quali every weekend lol

[-] lackthought 6 points 2 years ago

ALO vs VER is the battle I want!

[-] baduhai@sopuli.xyz 6 points 2 years ago

How come FP3 discussion is pinned, and not this?

[-] ThiccSemperTyrannis@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago
[-] imbrucy@lemmy.one 1 points 2 years ago

Sucks to be out of Q3, but that's probably about where he was going to be anyway. Still I good result to make it to Q3. Good strategy call by the team to commit to the slicks early.

[-] ThiccSemperTyrannis@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

Oh definitely, as of late I've generally just operated under the assumption that we'll be out in Q2. The chaos of wet weather always opens the door though. Both boys getting to Q3 when the playing field is leveled keeps the barest trickle of hopium flowing.

[-] Varyag@kbin.social 5 points 2 years ago

Whaaaat was that session... I missed the actual start and only watched the highlights but what were some of the pit crews smoking... Also something has got to be done about both Ferrari race engineers, and Sainz's impeding of fast laps.

[-] JonCecil@lemmy.world 5 points 2 years ago

Crofty referencing Russell's rain inside his helmet lol yes

[-] smokelessndepressed@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

I am a big fan of Russell but that was a very derpy moment that I hope i will never forget, we need more memes to immortalize it.

[-] JonCecil@lemmy.world 5 points 2 years ago

Alfa can't get out of Turn 3, much less Q1 atm.

[-] wes@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Red flag incoming? Edit: yep

[-] JonCecil@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

smh

The Canadian flag is more than 2/3 red, and so is this weekend.

[-] Appie@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago

Ferrari doesn't look good at all in the rain...

[-] toastedcaps@sh.itjust.works 10 points 2 years ago

Just in the rain?

[-] wes@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago

I like that f1tv are talking with Jean Alesi right now. The sound of him and Berger in the v12 Ferrari still gives me goosebumps.

[-] topeconhilo@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

That’s the second time this weekend that a Ferrari engine has failed…

[-] baduhai@sopuli.xyz 1 points 2 years ago

Yeah, that didn't look good for Tsunoda...

[-] melonpunk@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

Wow is this fogging bad. I wonder if they’ll keep this going.
