Oh they're real brave when it's an unarmed minority

[-] unconsciousvoidling@lemmy.one 32 points 1 year ago

So what did this chucklefuck do or say ? I don’t even know who this inbred looking mother fucker is.

Jason Aldean, the song's called "try that in a small town. Basically threatening to shoot the "wrong people" if they go to small country towns.

[-] Noughmad@programming.dev 20 points 1 year ago

I don't know the song, are the "wrong people" shooting kids or holding hands with a person of the same gender?

I have a hunch it's the latter, but I want to have some hope.

No mention of LGBT people in the lyrics, but the music video has footage probably meant to evoke the BLM protests and he recorded scenes for the video in front of a courthouse with a history of race riots and lynching ( Maury County Courthouse in Columbia, TN. Mostly the lyrics of the song seem to be talking about "city crime" and conservative no-nos like flag burning and disrespecting police. There's also a "don't come for our guns" line.

So when the government comes for our guns, who will take them? I always assumed it was going to be, you know, the police.

Cognitive dissonance is a large portion of the republican starter pack.

[-] gizmonicus@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 year ago

I thought that was like the only requirement. Failing to see even the most obvious inconsistencies in their worldview is what they do.

Boston dynamics dogbot will be coming in packs.

Normalized violence by singing how he was going to hurt protestors…

in a town with a history of lynchings.

Some dumb country singer apparently put out a new piece of shit glorifying and encouraging violence against people protesting for a better life for all.

I don’t know the name, don’t care to either. Just another conservative bigot

It used to be true that you were less likely to be murdered in a small town.

Although it was never true that you were less likely to die, you are more likely to die in a small town than a city, simply because there are fewer people around to help and fewer resources.

However, since COVID small towns are experiencing more violence than cities, possibly because many of them have turned against common sense gun control

As a Texan, I feel I have the right to ask this very important question...

Has anyone else noticed how the symmetry of the inner and outer shape of a cowboy hat is strongly reminiscent of an inverted toilet bowl?

Just curious.

Jason Aldean; the song everyone's talking about is "Try That in a Small Town"

[-] snarfback@kbin.social 3 points 1 year ago
