I'm not a user of this instance so I'm absolutely not going to try to tell you how it should be run, but I am curious. The other instances defederated are ones which have a pretty well-known reputation.

But feddit.nl is the local instance for Dutch users. It seems fairly innocuous. I mainly only know about it because of the notjustbikes community, which is tiny, but excellent, and about a Canadian YouTuber who lives in the Netherlands with a channel of the same name. I'm just curious what happened there to get it defederated from here, and whether perhaps I should look to create a notjustbikes community elsewhere, if it's a problematic instance for some reason.

I also thought the feddit.nl instance was hosted by the dutch? Or did they only have an official mastadon account?

To my knowledge only the Mastodon instance is run by the government, and the Lemmy one is community-run. But I have no inside knowledge from the admins of the Lemmy instance, so I could be wrong there.

You might have to @jerry@infosec.pub if there isn't notes on why listed. Sometimes instances get compromised and flood bad stuff. Maybe the instance can be enabled if there's no other reason to keep it disabled.

I am still here. Just don’t post much. I unblocked feddit.nl. It was quite problematic in the past but willing to try again.

Unfortunately they seem not to be active on Lemmy anymore. The other admin, @shellsharks@infosec.pub is though, so maybe they have some idea?
