I wonder who Frieren fought 80 years ago that forced her to use that special magic technique…… Oh.

I really want to see that fight
This episode was soo good it gave me shivers. The animation is pure eye candy as usual, especially with the magic effects during the battle.
The only ones who managed to make Frieren go all out are the Demon King and Fern. That firmly puts Fern far higher than first-class.
Übel is also a fucking amazing character. It's like she was specced specifically to be perfect for this magic system. Her imagination has no limits and she isn't bound by inconveniences like "morality." She's actually terrifying.
I like the rock-paper-scissors analogy. Considering how many variables are at play in combat, there is simply no straightforward way to rank two mages beyond superficial stats.
ngl I feel like I would also get caught by mimics all the time but unlike Frieren I'd actually die
The true rock-paper-scissor is between Frieren, other competent mages, and mimics. I was kind of hoping that they exploited this during the fight, but I'm glad that she managed to get stuck in at least one mimic through the arc.
Übel is a psychopath and I fucking love it! She was already picturing herself cutting Sense's hair years before.
The boorus are shipping her hard with Land, by the way. (Warning: large pic, but it's SFW.)
Fucking amazing episode.
Burg: "You can't hit me, my cloak is invincible."
Übel: "I reject your reality and substitute my own."
Frieren vs Frieren + Fern was as epic as expected! The animation in this anime continues to amaze!
Poor Richter and Lawine, taken out by a replica of someone who wasn't even one of the test takers! Wonder how Kanne will react to that.
With all those crazy mage-focused episodes, I kind of want a Slice of Life extra episode following Stark as he enjoys his well-earned vacations.
Poor Richter and Lawine, taken out by a replica of someone who wasn't even one of the test takers! Wonder how Kanne will react to that.
Mages in this world are just so much tougher; not sure about real life but in other shows a heart piercing wound would, if not kill immediately, be incapacitating instantly. So luckily they were still able to function and break the bottles to save themselves.
Natural selection! All the battle mages that dumped their constitution scores died before they could reach the power to even attempt a test to be First-Class, thus we only see the ones with insane durability that are left! Or at least that's my theory.
Just apply fantasy RPG logic to this show, and most of it will make sense.
I'm impressed by the durability of the boss room for enduring all those 999MP magics used by the Frierens
Methode can do anything...
