@yogthos what about increacing the production of solar? im not against nuclear per se but i definitely have all of your typical 'concerned citizen' fears around nuclear. seems like some kind of mix of the two would be a best case scenario

I'm all for using every available source of alternative energy. Nuclear and renewables complement each other well, and we should be using all the tools available to us to move off using fossils as fast as possible.

Regarding the safety of nuclear, I find a lot of the fears tend to come from lack of knowledge regarding what the actual risks are. If you look into the details of how nuclear production works, you'll see that it's one of the safer methods of energy production. For example, this is a good explanation of what happens with nuclear waste.
