I just ensure that I have enough cash on-hand for emergencies as all banks, without notice can just take all your funds at any point for literally any reason all at the same time and you have no choice.
Agreed. I normally have cash but I knew this check was coming in so I delayed taking a distribution from my retirement account. Bit me in the butt... :-(
This is the truth. I always have multiple bank accounts and multiple credit cards. This saved me recently because one of my banks (a fintech) recently announced they were pausing and were closing down accounts because the bank they are piggy backing on was no longer going to work with them. It was easy enough to move my direct deposits back to my main brick and mortar and I was already using another fintech bank as my auto bill pay so nothing changed there.
Living in vans, cars, RVs, etc
!houseless@lemmy.sdf.org
We're not homeless, we're houseless! By choice or by circumstance we are living in our vehicles. Don't worry about us -- it can be a very good life.
Anything that affects us as vehicle-dwellers is probably on topic.

rules of engagement
- be civil
- use descriptive thread titles. Pro tip: "Help" or "Question" are not descriptive titles.
- old-timers: assume people are different and have different needs, preferences, budgets, and use cases
- newbies: demonstrate effort and willingness to learn; you'll need it on the road anyhow. Links have been added below to help get you started. When asking question state your "use case" (what you are trying to accomplish); we are terrible guessers.
- tire-kickers: yes, we've heard that "in a van down by the river" joke. It was hi-larious in 1993.
