Mojo not being 100% libre software is the biggest reason why I haven't done anything more than play with it briefly.

He seems excited that the standard library is now "open source" isn't enough for me to be interested.

Yeah, I totally respect that they have to make money. But the reality is 99% of programming languages are completely free and open source so I can't see it really succeeding if it isn't too. Which makes it a tough business.

They keep repeating that they will make it all "open source" eventually. But, money makes people break promises.

I skimmed through the language docs because I can't be bothered with the PR video.

It appears to be a weird mishmash of Rust and Python (fully duplicating the Rust borrow checker). Honestly seems like a Julia competitor more than anything.

I see no notable innovations or killer features really. Just a lot of small tweaks and improvements that don't seem like they'll motivate anyone to adopt this. It will have to be attached to some other big product to have a chance.
