MADISON, Wis. -- Madison police officers were given an unexpected job following an arrest downtown Monday afternoon.

Officers were called to the 1200 block of East Washington Ave. at around 3:40 p.m. after a 44-year-old woman allegedly crashed her vehicle into multiple parked cars.

Police said the woman showed signs of impairment. She was taken to a hospital to be medically cleared then taken to the Dane County Jail. She faces a first-offense OWI charge.

While at the jail, the woman reportedly asked officers to care for her pet guinea pig because she would be away from the animal for several days. MPD officers were given permission to enter her apartment to feed the guinea pig and find it proper care.

So what?

She’s a bit of a fuck up but she loves her pet.

I hope she gets herself straightened out and gets her guinea pig back.

I’m genuinely impressed the officers followed through and got the animal taken care of.

Sadly the lifespan of the guinea pig works against that. But hopefully she gets better.

Cop: "OK, we'll take care of your pet"

*goes and shoots the guinea pig, sprinkles crack on it*

And? Just because she fucked up doesn’t mean her pet should die.
