Hey Folks, I just want to know what your thoughts are about the new spear skills, which Anet streamed on friday.

I have mixed feelings about the skills and desinges they showed. To be fair some classes are getting unique effects and a new type of gameplay but I think some skills seem to be overtuned in terms of competitve gameplay not to mention the graphic effects some skills have. I´m curious what the beta-event might feel like. Maybe the new skills will be balanced or getting balanced later on (most likely after the beta). For me as an Ele-Main I like the skills I got but I can understand the discomfort for people playing their class not getting the skills or playstyles they wanted.

What do you think about the new skills? Do you like their desing and gameplay? And are you satisfied with the skills your mainclass will get?

It's hard to know exactly how well the spears will perform before testing. They will no doubt adjust skills as needed. Can't speak on the gameplay since we haven't played with them yet.

The designs look cool, but like many streamers have mentioned, some of the ground effects could cause issues with enemy telegraphs.

That was exactly my concern. Some effects look so overloaded that crashes might occur easily.

Hyped about the ranger and thief spears, rev seems like a good WvW weapon too and could be a good power ranged option.

The others I didn't really look at, I saw the teasers and red the blogposts, but they didn't hook me. Which could also because the classes er not that interesting for me.

I know a lot of people were panning warrior, but I'm waiting to see what it feels like. I don't think it's wrong to have some simpler designs too, and for me at least I prefer that a lot of the time.

Same with Rev, I know people felt like it was a little weaker than others but I think it might be pretty fun. The only thing I was thinking about that one was the spammable main skill should be on 2 or 3, not 5.

Ranger is probably my top pick out of the whole thing.

Engie was the weakest for me. I just don't get how it fits the class fantasy at all. The visuals almost look more like warrior to me, and there's almost no gadget theme at all.

Ranger might be my second pick right after Ele. The theme around Petsprits as weapon are kinda cool

Ele is definitely cool looking, too. I just don't vibe with ele in general as much as ranger I think. I've always been more into doing one element in games so the GW2 ele was never quite my jam with all the switching.

Yeah the switching between elements is a hard thing to do properly. With a spear this is getting even more harder considering the buffs and utility you get to maxime your damage and handle your defense and the same time.

I think some were interesting but overall I can't shake the feeling they are a poor replacement for new elite specs. If any of them end up being good it will probably become the new go to weapon for every spec of that profession, which isn't really good for variety.
