Context: In a discussion about a small apartment listing described as "perfect for a full-time female student," the above transphobic comment was made in regard to who would post such a listing.

The comment is transphobic because it:

  1. Misgenders: Puts "woman" in quotes, invalidating trans women's gender.
  2. Stereotypes: Suggests trans women might transition for ulterior motives, perpetuating harmful stereotypes.
  3. Undermines Identity: Implies trans women are fundamentally different and suspect compared to cis women.

An uninitiated reader of your post like me would not understand what your post is about and dismiss it as ranting.

You should probably include more detail to make your point understandable without making your readers find and read a modlog, which ffs nobody will.

Are things not federating for you or…?

The post image is literally a screenshot of the entirety of the relevant parts of the modlog. Then the body text gives what I feel is enough context to understand the situation. There is no need to look up a modlog; readers of this post are working with exactly as much information as I have, except that I censored the offending user’s name to avoid harrassment or brigading charges.

If it’s just that people don’t take the time to look at the post image;;; I probably prefer that they dismiss me as ranting. I don’t rock with users who don’t read haha.

edit: reuploaded the image just in case but it was federated to .world just fine in my testing

I think the image is a bit confusing if you're not familiar with what the log looks like. I've never spent time in it, but looked because of this post and it makes more sense to me now. It just has a lot of information in it.

That said, the body text is sufficient to get the meaning, at least for me. I vaguely understood by looking at the picture, and your text got me the rest of the way there.

Is there an action to take now?

Yeah it is a lot, unfortunately we are in c/modlog I can’t very well explain the model of the modlog in every post, that would be like explaining all the rules of baseball in every post of the MLB communities 🙃 Glad you figured it out :)

Is there an action to take now?

I would report the comment if you find that it violates the rules!

Oh man I didn't even notice the community I was in. Wow, hopefully the dumbest thing I manage to do today.

I'll go check that comment out. I don't think I have that community blocked.
