Tankie is a pejorative label generally applied to authoritarian communists, especially those who support acts of repression by such regimes or their allies.
They love the tank parades too, which is how I like to think of them.
It's mostly used now by terminally online liberals to refer to anyone with remotely leftist opinions
Tired of these people tbh. They're so afraid of things they don't care enough to understand and lash out at anyone vaguely left of them. I already know and expect them to revoke their acknowledgement of queer people for any perceived slight against what they deem to be "acceptable leftism."
I fucking wish more people they label tankies were half as "authoritarian" as they claim, maybe then they'd be gagged enough to go away.
Just today I saw someone crying about "tankies" "defacing" a fucking pixelated recreation of the nato flag. It was one or two people doing it AT THE MOST.
Most of hexbear doesn't give a shit about the canvas thing, I personally didn't even know it started until I saw the post pointing out the posters on .world or s.j.w or whatever identical lemmy instance it was. The main "tankie" instances don't think about the anti tankie comms unprompted. It's such a stupid display of "my team is better than your team."
those anti leftist lib types are just conservative but ashamed to admit it.
