Just read it, and now I am wishing there was a full length novel. Such an intriguing premise! Going to pick up the author’s 3 novel arc starting with Emissaries from the Dead. Author’s name is Adam-Troy Castro.

sadly not, theres no romantic sub plots, and its all from the POV of the girl thats in the AI support coffin.
Managed to refine my search terms a bit, and by using “AI prison” instead of “vr prison” found it!
