I have been having trouble getting crème de violet anywhere locally so I ordered it from one of my favorite distilleries in Colorado. They have a new amaro so I made a black Manhattan, a gin Martinez, and a paper plane. This amaro is very herbal so the paper plane was a wash but the other two were quite good.

What is your favorite from Elevation 5003?

Cocktails you can get at their tasting room: self care (Smokey g&t with cbd bitters), the notorious F I G, and back in black (black Manhattan)

Bottles: Franklin is the best coffee liquor I’ve had. Their felernum is great (I used to 50 / 50 it with whiskey to make a lazy old fashion). The crème de violet isn’t officially on the shelf yet but it’s way better than the syrupy one everyone sells in the liquor store.

For base spirits they are known for their gin, it’s very citrus forward which got popular recently (I’m more of a Christmas tree drinker). Their bourbon and maple rye are also good but you’re paying the local distillery premium and you can get better for the price from the big players.

Cocktails, the libationary art!

A place for conversation about cocktails, ingredients, home mixology, the bar industry or liquor industry, glassware - this is not an exhaustive list. If you think it's in some way related to cocktails it's probably fine.

If you post something you didn't create give credit whenever possible.

Pictures and recipes are encouraged when posting a drink as a standalone post. Example of an ideal drink post:

We love garnishes.

Remember the code of conduct, keep it nice. In terms of cocktails- specific etiquette that might be different from other communities:

Mentioning your blog, insta, website, book or bar is allowed, yes. For now at least, we do allow self-promotion. If it gets out of hand this might change.

A good post with a drink you don't like is still a good post! Try not to conflate the drink and the post or poster. If someone has a relevant title, gorgeous photo and clearly formatted recipe of what you consider a truly terrible drink, a comment is more appropriate than a downvote.

On that topic: Polite critique/reviews of drinks (or posts, images, etc.) is allowed here. Encouraged , even. It's a good tool for improving your drinks and content. Really, just be nice.
