Might be worth running your own instance so you have complete control of your data.
i do like ansible... do i like ansible more than the money i would spend on a vps? not clear at this time.
I just run it off a system at my house, no hosting costs required. (Besides the domain name I guess)
You can create your own instance of Lemmy and close signups. Just federate it with whichever server you want. That's all
