Goddammit SMCF, you're a sourdough baker too!

At least it looks amazing. Hope it tastes as good as it looks.

I need to let it cool down for a while yet but I will!

I don't think I've ever tried sourdough bread before, but it looks fantastic!

It’s not for everyone but it’s tangy, chewy and crunchy and I love it.

Neat! How long is the bake time and what kind of temp are you looking at?

It was right around 425~~c~~f according to my infrared thermometer and I had it in there for 45 minutes.

edited the temperature.

From the pic it looks like a tiny dutch oven. Lovely scenery! You put coals on top, but none underneath? Great outcome.

[-] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

It’s a 14” Dutch oven.

Yeah, I started by digging out the coals in the middle and throwing the dutch over there and ten minutes later it hit 750f so I moved it onto the grill about 12 inches above them and it was about 600f so I move it to the side and was able to maintain about 425f for the time. I did swing the grill to the other side of the fire so it wouldn't burn the one side and leave the other side raw.

Since I couldn't really peek until it was done when I brushed off the coals and opened the lid I was pretty excited.
