It's a double edged sword... When I still used to drink it would always make my back stop hurting, however this also meant I would forget that my back was hurt and end up doing things that made it twice as bad when I woke up the next day lol
Yeah, it's also a great way to sleep in a weird position that fucks your back up the next day too
The best is when you pass out in a chair with your head tilted back like you're looking at the ceiling lol Always makes for a fun morning

Doesn't alcohol thin your blood? Sure, it might not hurt, but there'd be blood everywhere (maybe, I'm not an expert on the cinematic accuracy of surgery portrayed in the 19th century OR a doctor)
