I'm new to cryptocurrecy and I'm wanting to finally start using Monero. At least a year ago, I heard it was possible to buy XMR completely anonymously using Amazon gift cards bought from retail stores using cash, but I can't seem to find any information about that online anymore. From what I've heard, you can use your XMR to get some kind of card which you're able to use in place of a typical debit mastercard and thus be able to buy groceries using Monero.

I would appreciate if anyone could direct me to recources on how to do these things; most importantly the part about buying the XMR anonymously with cash in the first place.

Put the Monero.com wallet on a mobile device. In the bar at the bottom is the 'Buy' option.

Do you have any kind of crypto already? Because if you do, you can swap 4 Monero using one of the instant swap services such as trocador.app and use Haveno. If you do not, there is a get your first XMR room on matrix that might be able to help. https://matrix.to/#%2F%21gQJbRTGiTuVmJhnVGe%3Amatrix.org%3Fvia=monero.social&via=matrix.org&via=kernal.eu

Do be aware that in that room you can only buy a maximum of 0.15 and that's to keep people from being scammed for a bunch of money since there is no kind of arbitration or protection of any kind. Once you have at least 0.11, you can use Haveno-reto from https://haveno-reto.com/

I don't have any Crypto. If I go the Matrix route, what am I supposed to trade with them if I don't own any other crypto?

With the Matrix route, you trade them Fiat for their crypto, but the most you can trade is 0.15, so that if either party gets scammed for any reason, there's not a large financial loss to either person.

Are you savvy enough to use haveno reto application? I would recommemd that. can send you some monero for a amazon gift card in return. Once I confirmed claim I can send you monero. 100 aud. Yeah the issue of trust is an issue.
