We seem to be having trouble with a handful of the larger lemmy instances, as well as some misc other instances even though these instances aren't dead-dead: https://fedia.io/federation (at bottom of page - "Dead Instances").

I thought maybe it would've been a problem with a specific lemmy version, but there are several versions in the list and also some still-living Mastodon instances that are running reasonably up-to-date versions.

Seeing this from SJW.
The ones you list in the title are all running 0.19.7

Ahhh, I hadn't considered that they might've upgraded since the last time Fedia pulled the versions (making the reported versions outdated, at least for lemmy), good catch!

I just looked at these 3 on my PieFed server to see if maybe it's also seeing a similar issue, but all 3 mentioned Lemmy instances are federating fine and have all been seen within the past second here.

Weird, I know that I saw one comment from ani.social come in very delayed (like a couple of days) despite showing up on both the host [remote] instance and Mastodon.

I blocked those 3 after getting so many reports that my hair was falling out. If y'all want them again, I can unblock them, but please please please stop reporting them, then.

Somehow I don't think a comment here will get the reach needed to keep your hair in 😅 I'm surprised that some instances would have a disproportionate report rate! (other than maybe the more polarizing ones like lemmy.ml)

I see lemmy.ml is on that list. Checking on a fairly active community there (c/linux) it looks like it got posts from yesterday but none of the 10 most recent ones from the past 22 hours are visible on fedia.io.

I thought after the US election all the bots got moved or something but I guess if we defederated from .ml that could also explain the sudden calmness. lol
