nixos-rebuild switch --upgrade
This will not update you to 24.11.
That was just my final step after changing the address of the channels and editing my config to accommodate for the changes of the last months. Sorry for my low quality comment. Edit: Removed backpedaling.
Only relevant on non-flakes installs to be clear. But I suspect most using flakes are on unstable so versions don't really matter.
