They already died twice as far as we can see already. It is surprising they both didn't get PTSD from dying so gruesomely, but I guess that like-waking-from-a-dream feeling helped?

I think it's really cute how long distance travelers leave those flower offerings. It's easy to imagine how if you lived in that world you'd start to notice things like "oh, someone must have come through here from [wherever] recently" when passing by one of those statues.

For a merchant type he sure is strong.

His job is Illusory Swordsman, he just got a skill that is common with merchants. Since he thought he was in a dream, like travels and ruins I guess he fights a lot of monsters along the way like playing an RPG. He also doesn't die in that world so he can take more risks than other people, contributing to his high level.
