Don't know how much it's going to count for when the h5n1 pandemic hits, but it's probably going to be easier to get a flu vaccine now than any time moving forward, so probably wanna take care of that sooner than too late.

Yup, that's what was implied in the first part. Depending on the genetics of a pandemic h5n1 though, the possibility does exist that current vaccines might be better than nothing at least. Even a 1% difference is huge on population scales.

The order is only in effect until February 1. I'd be curious about it if it was longer but a 1 week freeze is probably about reducing miscommunication during the gov transition.

Stopping new rules and stopping basic alerting are very different. I can see an administration wanting to review new rules. But stopping normal communication is extreme.
