Hi, we are a Berlin based social enterprise with a small team, working to a great extent pro bono (making less noise as others with a huge marketing budget). We made a radical move last year and step by step eliminated all US-American big tech components and, as a logical consequence turned GOOD Search into an ad-free search engine (as Google and Microsoft control the entire search engine advertising market). Find here a nice recent article about us: https://en.reset.org/the-good-search-engine-web-search-without-advertising-benefits-users-and-the-climate/

Are you the CEO of Good Search? Thank you for chiming in, would you like to do an AskMeAnything?

There is only one search engine in Europe that ONLY serves results from their own crawlers: https://www.mojeek.com/

All the others (qwant, startpage, swisscows . . ) merge results from Bing or Google or Brave.

Be warned: you will NOT get the same search results with mojeek . .

Hear, hear. Honestly it's not particularly good as a search engine - but it does give you very different results

At least until Qwant and Ecosia finish their European Index, slated to start rolling out this year.

Thanks for the info! Added to the database.

Never heard of them either. Slightly disappointed that they redirect to google-maps instead of a more free alternative. Will check them out though.

According to their FAQ they use the search index of Brave. The company is based in San Francisco.

Ah, sad to hear.

Also FYI, your content got tagged as German, you might want to check your account settings: https://feddit.nl/post/29633145

No worries, trying to help. The platform has some quirks. Feel free if you have questions, here are a few pointers that can help you settle in

Nice, might give this a try. Currently using Kagi, which works great, but is American and much more expensive.
