Pretty cool analogue way to get randomness. There are a lot of solutions, this is one.

The lava lamps are just a gimmick and evening filming a white wall (as long as the video is not overexposed) would be just as random/secure because of the avalanche effect of cryptographically secure hash functions and the thermal noise of cameras.
