Probably a Coyote jawbone.

The right side which is broken off is the front, the hinge is missing from the rear side on the left.

Check to the left of that compound molar (biggest tooth), if there is only one molar it's a coyote. If there is a molar and a hole for a second molar it's a Fox.

You have an impressive knowledge of the dental arrangement of several carnivores. Are you perhaps a wolf dentist by profession?

[–] NoSpiritAnimal@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

No I'm a woods-type autist. I have a +2 buff for outdoors knowledge and working with my hands.

That is a ziplock bag full of teeth

Raccoon or Possum?

Complete guess, I’m a software engineer.

Could they be software engineer bones?

[–] DScratch@sh.itjust.works 9 points 2 months ago

I’m sure they would have dealt with bugs, while alive.

Unless we've taught rodents how to code, I don't think so.

if i had the option to choose between teeth that grow all throughout life and coding, i would choose the first

How big are they, where did you find them, and why did you bring them home?

[–] xylogx@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago (2 children)

About 2-3 inches. Found by the side of the road in Northern Virginia. I am not the one who bought them home, so I cannot comment on motivation.

Which one exactly is 2-3 inches?

[–] xylogx@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

The piece that looks like a jaw bone.

[–] ocean@lemmy.selfhostcat.com 4 points 2 months ago

That’s massive!

We have a lot of Red Foxes in this area, that is my guess.
