Why isn't opera on the browsers list? It's also European as Vivaldi, isn't it?

@FallenWalnut@lemmy.world, just noted a small type, it's Immich and not Immach

Thank you for your work!

Could you post / insert the direct links of the guides to the post / comment? I dont mind tbh, but many people would trust it more if its not shortened links. I know its better to have shortened links in such image guides, but would be cool if you would provide them.

Sure, I just realized they go to reddit.

I've posted all these guides here:

It looks pixilated on my mobile device. Is there a direct link to the full size image?

I wish people would stop posting this list. While it's intentions are good it's information is off.

I'm actually the OP of these guides. I see some of my older versions shared, which is why I am posting the latest versions directly now.

Every version is improved on as people comment, so welcome any feedback if you feel something is wrong.

Waterfox, LibreFox still relies heavily on Firefox code and as such while it's more tuned for privacy it's origins would be the same.

Vivaldi and brave is also heavily based on the same code as edge and chrome. It's also important to note many services use that code also like Steam for example.

Blusky has close ties with a crypto company, including a member on the board. This may be important for some people.

Google docs is now a part of Google drive and add such is better matched against proton drive.

All of protons services are owned and run from Europe.

I think that's all, I'm sitting in the dark at 4am so it'll do for now.

  1. Waterfox/LibreFox - The question of which browsers offers the most privacy isn't straightforward. But WaterFox and LibreWolf are often recommended and considered private e.g. https://www.privacytools.io/private-browser . However, I won't argue the specifics of this as I relied on other posts and resources rather than being an expert myself.

  2. These types of disclaimers (for Bluesky) are mentioned in the deep-dives.

  3. There is a separate Google Drive to Proton Drive comparison. Not sure the point here. This is to help people to find Office Suite alternatives, which I don't believe Proton Drive has.

  4. Proton Services - yup, which is why Proton is mentioned with the "Boycott US" tag.
