Three weeks ago I decided to bite the bullet and start teaching myself Japanese, so that's what I've been doing daily since! Doing a mix of immersion and actual grammar studying and it's so satisfying!! I feel like I'm learning a bit more every day, it's so cool to listen to songs I've been listening to for years and understand a few new words each time~ My only regret is not starting sooner, I thought I'd be too stupid to teach myself a language... Until I remembered I taught myself English as a teenager by just using the internet a lot, and now my English is better than my Italian lol

Share a story, ask a question, or start a conversation about (almost) anything you desire. Maybe you'll make some friends in the process.
RULES (updated 01/22/25)
- Be respectful: no harassment, hate speech, bigotry, and/or trolling. To be concise, disrespect is defined by escalation.
- Encourage conversation in your OP. This means including heavily implicative subject matter when you can and also engaging in your thread when possible. You won't be punished for trying.
- Avoid controversial topics (politics or societal debates come to mind, though we are not saying not to talk about anything that resembles these). There's a guide in the protocol book offered as a mod model that can be used for that; it's vague until you realize it was made for things like the rule in question. At least four purple answers must apply to a "controversial" message for it to be allowed.
- Keep it clean and SFW: No illegal content or anything gross and inappropriate. A rule of thumb is if a recording of a conversation put on another platform would get someone a COPPA violation response, that exact exchange should be avoided when possible.
- No solicitation such as ads, promotional content, spam, surveys etc. The chart redirected to above applies to spam material as well, which is one of the reasons its wording is vague, as it applies to a few things. Again, a "spammy" message must be applicable to four purple answers before it's allowed.
- Respect privacy as well as truth: Don’t ask for or share any personal information or slander anyone. A rule of thumb is if something is enough info to go by that it "would be a copyright violation if the info was art" as another group put it, or that it alone can be used to narrow someone down to 150 physical humans (Dunbar's Number) or less, it's considered an excess breach of privacy. Slander is defined by intentional utilitarian misguidance at the expense (positive or negative) of a sentient entity. This often links back to or mixes with rule one, which implies, for example, that even something that is true can still amount to what slander is trying to achieve, and that will be looked down upon.

Been playing Tears Of The Kingdom again! This time around I downloaded a challenge mode mod for Yuzu that is essentially analogous to Master Mode in Breath Of The Wild. As someone who already beat the game once on the Switch (pre-dump), this is a refreshing and challenging new start. I'm getting one-shotted, enemy camps are more diverse, and I can only eat cooked foods. I've had no issues with the mod so far and I love how the creators of the mod actually modelled completely new horns and other parts for the new golden enemies! I haven't had this much excitement about a mod since True Spice for Pikmin 3 came out!
Got another player to join my weekly One Ring 2e table. We had paused for a while because 2 players left (one for scheduling issues, the other for not liking the game), but with someone new we can start again next week
Not so much a hobby, but I finished the second season of The Wire (first watch). To me it was way better than the first, the story with Frank just hits home so hard. Fucking Ziggy
A ton. Stardew-vally-marathon with wifey, finished another watch of "the wire", did some major coding in our smarthome, built another server, visited 2 museums and one zoo, hit the gym, and gamed solo a ton too. So kinda like most weeks give or take 😁
Modified my nixos config even more, started hosting crafty controller so that ny friend can spin up mc servers easilly.
And like every week for months now trying to force my self ti write for my blog.
Also started working out again after 4 months now that temps outside aren't in negativrles ( metric system )
I tried to setup a ptp connection using Ubiquiti LiteBeam AC5 dishes. But unfortunately there were too many trees in between so i have to refund them.
Other than that set up my entire FediStack(Mastodon,Lemmy,Pixelfed,Funkwhale).
Also configured soulseek(slskd) with Soularr. So overall have been quite busy but definitely reaping the fruits of my labor 😎
