It works because people are willing to put up with it for a quality show. If a show was mediocre, I doubt people would be patient enough to wait week by week.

The recent Disney+ style of dropping episodes in small chunks seems to be the sweet spot.

Obviously I like when I can watch something all in one go, but it's also fun to watch a show slowly roll out and have water cooler conversations.

With Andor I get to watch a new movie every week. With other shows I get a 2 episode premiere or finale, with maybe another bonus double feature in between.
