I do this on comments. But not this comment.

[–] SidewaysHighways@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago (1 children)

i also didn't do this on this comment.

[–] Klear@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

I did it on this comment, but then I went back and wrote this.

[–] wildncrazyguy138@fedia.io 19 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Had the uno reverse of this the other day. I don’t want to respond to this to justify myself, but damned if I’m gonna let this mf have the last word.

[–] Onomatopoeia@lemmy.cafe 8 points 1 month ago

Lol. Hard to fight that one.

[–] Itdidnttrickledown@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago

Often. Even more often I realize there is no point since the recipient is either a troll or incapable of rational thought.

[–] LovableSidekick@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago

Yes, all the fucking time.

[–] skarn@lemmy.today 6 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Yes, I write more than twice the work emails than I send. I spend 15 minutes on slack composing a reasoned response with examples and references then edit it down to one sentence. Because I know from bitter experience noone reads long form, at least, not for work. They'd rather spend weeks back and forth on one liners with days in between responses, or only when prompted, than answer one email properly and the whole thjng sorted in a day. Even this is too long. But I'm going to hit submit before the urge to edit overhwlems me.

98% of everything I write gets deleted almost immediately. More if we count typos.

[–] victorz@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Curious about the math you use to calculate that percentage. Show your work!

[–] higgsboson@dubvee.org 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Hah! I would have estimated more like one percent but I do still type with a real keyboard occasionally, where I am markedly faster and more accurate. Nevertheless, I still delete most emails, notes, comments, etc without saving them.

[–] victorz@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

That's really curious to me. I delete what must be less than 1% of the things I write with the intention to send. Maybe I'm reckless? Or maybe I think carefully enough before deciding on starting to type something worth sending? I dunno.

But deleting almost one hundred percent of what you type, seems like a lot of wasted time at the keyboard, to me.

[–] higgsboson@dubvee.org 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I type pretty fast, it is more just that my brain doesnt work very well. Many times I am writing things just to organize my thoughts.

[–] victorz@lemmy.world 0 points 1 month ago

Okay, yeah. I wonder how long it took you to write those other 99 comment drafts that you discarded before sending this last one. Or the one before your latest comment. 😅😉

"Wait a minute this dude comments on piss drinking subs I dont owe this mf shit about taste wtf"

[–] Kaboom@reddthat.com 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)
[–] tobis@lemm.ee 2 points 1 month ago

More like “Oh god, what if they reply? I don’t have the time for this.”

[–] Guns0rWeD13@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

[–] jbk@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 1 month ago

[–] MadMadBunny@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

… … …

Fuck it.

[–] Shardikprime@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Fuck that shit, I use AI to summarize basically all my overly extended work emails

[–] AnimalsDream@slrpnk.net 1 points 1 month ago (3 children)

This is why I have a backlog of Lemmy notifications.

[–] REDACTED@infosec.pub 1 points 1 month ago

I'm using boost and boost for lemmy tells me I have 5 new replies/messages. Unfortunately, they're not there, so I assume a mod or user itself deleted the comment before I could read it, but the unread messages number never went down

[–] andybytes@programming.dev 1 points 1 month ago

I just march forward and resign myself to pearls before swine. I don't even pay attention to the notifications or the replies. No war but the class war.

[–] Klear@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Here's one extra!

[–] MrAlternateTape@lemm.ee 1 points 1 month ago

I would write a lengthy response, but....

[–] vosje62@mastodon.nl 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)
