Inhabited Beauty

For photos of beautiful, still-inhabited locales! It can be a quick snapshot of your local town, a breathtaking pro photo of a city, or a pic of some fascinating piece of modern life.

The only real rule is that it must be an actively inhabited/used location (ie not ruins or natural locales). Otherwise, go wild. Anything that you find beautiful or interesting!

I don’t know if it’s the same that I watched, but it’s super interesting. They simulated a negotiation for a load of cheese. For what I could understand, one says the price and extends his hand. The other slaps the hand if he doesn’t agree. And they keep doing this until the price is agreed.

The Dutch are the most unserious people on earth

Oh, and I have been waxing these cheeses as well at Uniekaas near Alkmaar. The most mind numbing job I ever had. Kilometers of cheese, a cart and brush…take the cheese out of the storage, turn it on the other side, wax that cheese and put it back.

Dat "ni" en "niks" lijkt me wel iets vlaams? :)

ni

Het doen mij eerder denken aan een stel Britse ridders die voorbijkomende reizigers afpersen om een planten border te realiseren.

the rest of the world really missed out on not adopting shit like this. sure, we've got oktoberfest. but there's a lot of good cheese and like, eleven more months.

I used to live in Alkmaar 30 years ago. Went to school there too before, when I lived in Bergen (North Holland). Too much tourists there.

I can see why the guy in the back doesn't get hurt, but the guy in the front looks like his going to have shaved ankles.

I’d make ambulance noises whenever I was carrying that thing.

Have they considered using a cart instead? They even have the wheels right there.

unless you want to carry much more heavier weights with only one person that took looks useful.

perfect on every terrain, can handle steps and potholes.

I want that one! Not that identical wheel of cheese the one over there that looks completely the same as that one.
