Generally, an artifact should be 100+ years old, but this is a flexible requirement if you find something rare and suitably linked to an era of history, not a strict rule. Anything over 100 is fair game regardless of rarity.

Never really understood the point of a single edged straight sword. If it's going to be straight, isn't it just pure benefit to sharpen both sides? Just gives you more options.
You could baton the flat side, make a less than lethal strike or even lean on it. It could be more of a police thing than a war thing.
It's not as flashy as having a lot of different techniques, but in real combat it's better to have one good honed swing that you're very practiced with
