That's not newsworthy, IMO. Like the article highlights, bots make up the majority in games involving new players, so it wouldn't be completely unexpected to see them elsewhere. Going by my own experience, I don't think it's common though and the article doesn't claim otherwise.

Most matches have to be 50% bots based on my experience. At the end of ch4 I would kill 5-7 players in a good match (for me). Since the start of five I average over ten per match. I didnt get better in days, rather, they changed the number of bots
Yeah, there are definitely bots in normal matches, but they get thinned out pretty quickly.
Yeah definitely a difference between people running bot accounts, and game generated bot players (clearly labelled) to make up the numbers for real players to enjoy.
