Welcome

Hello everyone, welcome to another issue of the webzine B-side Gaming. It has been a month since the last one, and I have gathered once again lots of content to read. Doing these once a month is much more work than I thought (and the interest in these is a bit low for now), so I think I will be switching to irregular intervals between issues. Maybe even do small ones from time to time, like only news roundups. But for now, let us focus on this one. Since it's a lot of stuff, I will be linking again to my https://write.as/ so I can fit everything. Posting content in the comments that I tried initially last time did not work out well because of the character limit that comments have. Finally, I wanted to ask if there is any interest in having these in a downloadable format. At the moment, I have md files for each issue on my hard drive. There are many apps that can read md files, like the Moon Reader+ on Android. But I could also convert them into PDFs if that is preferred. I would have to check where I can host them, but I think I will find something. Maybe on Itch.io.

Enjoy reading.

First time I really noticed these articles. One thing I think will reduce your engagement is the lack of hooks in the Lemmy post. As a first-time reader, I can't even be sure any of those links will really interest me. Now, I'm going to check it out anyway, but I'm sure others won't.

All that said, thank you for adding to the conversation here on Lemmy! I am not a creator, and my post count is still in the single digits, so I rely on people like you to make Lemmy a place worth coming to, which will help it grow. There are others doing similar work in a more weekly format, which makes it easier to get the content directly onto Lemmy, but I'm not saying that's what you should do. I want you to add your unique spin to things, not just copy someone else. If you feel the need to change your format, that's cool, too. Sometimes it takes a bit to find your style. But at least give an idea of what we have to look forward to when we click those links, and perhaps add some pictures if that makes sense for the content.

Now off I go to see what you've prepared for us.

Edit: Having read what you prepared, I'm not disappointed. I hope to see more soon.

Thanks, I get what you mean. I used to have everything in the post previously but I run out of space because my content passes the character limit of a post. So I tried this work around post links to an external blog but it's not ideal solution.

I might do it differently in the future and when I find time I will add some images that will help indicate what the links are about.

I am familiar with the similar weekly posts, it is what partially inspired me to do this but I wanted to take a different approach that resembles more a monthly gaming magazine with a lot of variety in content.

That being said I open to suggestions to changing things, trying out what works the best.

That corner of fun was cheesy and definitely got a few scoffs out of me. Lol.

Sorry for always being so critical but I've got to say that I don't think this format looks as good, and I think it's less enticing than before. For convenience sake, I think most of the content should be here instead of the 'write as' pages (even though those pages do look and read great). Maybe the majority of content could be as a post here, like before, and then the extra content that doesn't fit could be linked in the 'write as'? I don't know what would be the best solution, but I just wanted to share my opinion on the matter.

Regardless, I'll still be excited to check out what you have next. This is good content and I appreciate you posting. It's understandable if you need to tone down the frequency too, it definitely seems like a lot of work.

Thanks, I understand that having everything together would be better, I think so too looking at the post it seems very plain in comparison with having everything together. So I am not sure what the solution is. Maybe split the post into post or mixing it up.

Having it on write.as gives me also the additional option to see what parts have more views which is helpful for to see what interests people more. And I am curious to see for example if there is any interest in the python mini games or if I am wasting my time time with these.

I could try to make a poll and see what interests the readers more but the last time I did a poll it got only 4 votes with result split 50/50 so it didn't help me at all.

Anyway I leave like that for now and I will decide on the next one what to do.
