In the prolewiki article about the DPRK is said: "Although there was an attempt at establishing the People's Republic of Korea, the nascent state was outlawed by U.S. forces.", but there is no source (en.prolewiki.org)

I remember this from Anna Louise Strong's book on Korea but I am too tired and blasted to look it up rn
