Took way longer than it should have but happy it's finished, how it turned out, and in time for autumn! One skein, relatively easy intro to cables I guess, hard part was just remembering numbers.

And it takes a couple row before it obvious you fucked up. Aaaaand dropping down to fix it is such a pain!

They look so pretty though 😍

If you've been hiding more photos of pretty knitting projects from us, me and you need to have words πŸ˜‰

Great job!! I've been knitting for about 10 years, never ever finished a project with cables. I always frog them. It's truly my Achilles' heel :(

Do you mind if I ask what tends to go wrong with them? Occasionally someone will ask me to help them learn cabling so knowing what the pitfalls are is always handy when teaching.

Great question! For me it's really the needle manipulation. I feel super clumsy and never sure if I made my stitches correctly. I can read charts no problem at all, but I can never get into a comfortable rhythm so I get frustrated and lose motivation to see it through.

They're kind of annoying to do, possibly because I refuse to buy a proper cable needle and always just use a bobby pin or a pencil or something. But they look so good when they're done!

This is going to be so cozy once the weather turns nasty. You'll feel fancy, and eventually forget the annoyance of actually making it, that's how it always seems to work for me anyway πŸ˜„

What pattern is this? I figure I should learn how to cable sometime, and if you used this as your intro to cabling it’s probably alright for people new to it.

It's lovely! What type of yarn did you use?
