Typical city council nonsense. They fought them, added all kinds of warnings and pilot projects, and now want a pause because they're working.

"War on the car" has been a popular talking point for 20 years plus.

Fuck drivers mate!!! Shut off to protect the drivers? The ones who don't know how to drive properly? Those drivers have the risk of killing people.

If the camera cought you speeding, it means you should stop speeding or take driving lessons again!

Lol, aside from the obvious burden I think it would be fun to make drivers retest every 4 years or so. I bet a lot would fail. I'm sure it would have basically no impact of they failed though because they would just be allowed to take it again because this society views driving as a right.

I don't understand the visibility and warning argument. There are speed limit signs prior to the cameras. That's the warning and visibility. You go over, you pay. You have been warned and informed. Drive with 40 in a 50 zone, or 70 in an 80 zone, etc. It's what most of my family does. That's the point - slowing people down.

Of course I'm aware that speed limits aren't the best way to regulate traffic speed, I'm just working in the current context where that's the infrastructure we have.
