So they run the privatised utility into the ground, and expect the government to bail them out? Knighthoods all round

That is indeed the system.

Chubby dividend payouts for a bit then let it collapse. Its an excellent scheme if you're an amoral lizard.

Its an excellent scheme if you’re an amoral lizard.

Well hey, you'll never guess who built the system...

Is this the same Thames Water that paid their chief exec £1.5 MILLION pounds in the year to the start of June? Why yes, yes it is.

Disgusting isn't it, water companies should become nationalised

I can only think they must not have paid the poor chap enough. Just look at what's become of them.

She’s a woman, you big sexist. Women can be grossly overpaid for inferior work too!

Ah, the state of the gender paygap. It's 2023 and still a woman can't be fairly compensated for tanking an essential public service into the ground smh.

General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

!ukpolitics@lemm.ee appears to have vanished! We can still see cached content from this link, but goodbye I guess! :'(
