“We will not unload a single inch of this murderous cargo,” said the Enedep union representing dock workers at the Athens port. “The dock workers of Piraeus will not be complicit. We will not unload military steel from the Ever Golden – no to Greece’s involvement – freedom for Palestine,” the union said. The Ever Golden is operated by Evergreen Marine Corporation, based in Taiwan, and managed by Japan’s Shoei Kisen Kaisha Ltd. It flies under the Panamanian flag and was sailing off the coast of West Africa on 9 July. The ship previously stopped at the port of Singapore between 12 and 13 June. It is expected to dock in Piraeus on 14 July, carrying 75 bundles of military-grade steel originating in India.

Good for them. Part of what ended apartheid in South Africa was independent protests by workers refusing to work with South African products.
