A community for the fans and critics of the show 30 Rock.

Discussion of the show, pictures from the show and anything else 30 Rock related.

Rules:

  1. All DubVee instance rules apply. See the sidebar at https://dubvee.org/. Those are pretty comprehensive, so we don't really need to add much to those.
  2. No politics outside of what's referenced on the show. Let's leave that drama elsewhere since there's plenty of it.
  3. All posts must be 30 Rock related or adjacent. You dummies are awesome, so I don't think I've ever had to mod any posts for this, but codifying it for good measure.
  4. Less a rule and more of a guideline, but please try to provide alt text if your instance + client combination support it. If not, then please try to make an effort to provide a description of any image posts in the post body.
  5. Don't make fun of people for misusing dated cultural references. Are we all cowabunga on this?
  6. No talking about Krang! It would be a waste of time to talk about Krang on ~~television~~ the internet!

I've decided to shutdown Dubvee, so that means this community is going away. I'm not aware of any other 30 Rock community to recommend, but if someone wants to start one on Piefed and take over, I am open to assisting with a community transfer.

It may seem dirty doing this while Jen is out of action, but we talk IRL, and she's known for a good while that my interest in Lemmy has been fading, so I know she understands.

I'm really sorry to read this. Thank you for all you've done - I'm sorry you've had such a torrid time and seen the worst of the Lemmy verse.

I hope you can find some enjoyment on the other side as a user instead of an admin. I've found a lot of positive and enriching places and people on the Lemmy verse.

I am sure that is in no small part thanks to the hard work and diligence of people like you.

Hopefully once time has passed you will be able to look back and see all the good you have done. While it is hard to see now when you're feeling burnt out, there are lots of positives too and you will hopefully be able to be proud of all you achieved in the future.

Thank you for helping make the fediverse a better place.

Dude! That sucks and I'm sorry to see your admin and instance going away. You've been a rock and amazingly supportive.

Lemmy needs help, professional help

Yeah....

Thanks. I just can't run this place alone; not without someone else sharing the same vision/mission I'm trying to achieve. There's too much toxicity that I don't want to platform and not enough me or fucks-to-give to handle it all. This was a long time coming, honestly, and I regret not doing this sooner.

Beehaw was always my guiding light in many ways for what I wanted to do here (plus or minus a few things), so I may pop up there later on down the line as someone with no responsibilities. But for now, I want to part ways with this place entirely and spend more time in the real world (time I've denied myself having to be responsible for this dumpster fire lol).

I'll still be on Matrix, so feel free to give a shout once in a while and let me know what's currently bugging you.

Sorry to hear it's been hard on you. Take care of yourself, and thanks for everything you've done.

Bye, dummies. I do hope to see this community migrate to another instance or something.

What does this mean in terms of this community being archived or whatever? This is probably more of a question about how Lemmy/ActivityPub work, but after Dubvee is shut down, will I still be able to see my old posts by visiting https://lemmy.sdf.org/c/30rock@dubvee.org or something? Will I be able to crosspost those old posts to a new 30 Rock community, or will I have to post them from scratch?

[–] ptz@dubvee.org 3 points 4 days ago

You'll still see them there, yes. But anything posted by a dubvee user (or lemm.ee or any instance that's shut down) won't have working images (the community icon/banner also won't work). SDF may have local thumbnails for some posts, but there's no guarantee I can make. Posts you've made should be fine since the images are not hosted on my instance (e.g. you should be able to crosspost them just fine).

Any new posts made to this community from there would only show up locally on sdf.org's instance (since dubvee won't be online to federate them out), but I've locked the community to prevent that kind of "islanding"

Jen's not available, but I will say this from us both since I'm sure she shares the same sentiment: Thank you for helping to grow this community and the funny, insightful, and sometimes just silly contributions you've made. I also hope someone picks up the reigns and creates a replacement, but that's not something I'll be involved with (unless they would like to transfer the contents of this community over in which case I am willing to assist).

So, after the lemm.ee shutdown, the thing to do is :

  • Put a new community to refer to in the stickies/community name/etc so that people can migrate there
  • Choose a new mod to take over
