LOS ANGELES (AP) — A federal judge on Friday ordered the Trump administration to halt indiscriminate immigration stops and arrests in seven California counties, including Los Angeles.

Immigrant advocacy groups filed the lawsuit last week accusing President Donald Trump’s administration of systematically targeting brown-skinned people in Southern California during its ongoing immigration crackdown. The plaintiffs include three detained immigrants and two U.S. citizens, one of whom was held despite showing agents his identification.

The filing in U.S. District Court asked a judge to block the administration from using what they call unconstitutional tactics in immigration raids. Immigrant advocates accuse immigration officials of detaining someone based on their race, carrying out warrantless arrests, and denying detainees access to legal counsel at a holding facility in downtown LA.

Trump: I run this country. I and I alone

Yes, and he is right. The President can basically do whatever the fuck he wants now, as long as at least 1/2 the House (or 1/3 of the Senate) let him, because the sole remedy for a rogue President is impeachment.

That's not the sole remedy. It's just the only one explicitly stated in the constitution.

Well, there are.... let's call them extra-judicial remedies. But those might turn out doing more harm than good.

I am referring specifically to the Supreme Court case that gave the President immunity to break the law in his official capacity, and reserved for the Court itself the task of determining what is Official. So if the President breaks rhe law in his official capacity, the only way to punish him is impeachment....

So? The Trump regime ignores the courts. Haven't you noticed?

I got a little excited reading the headline, until it hit me that California and Democrats at the federal level likely won't do anything to back this judge up. They've been more than happy to get by richer letting the wolves feast so far.

Racial profiling was already illegal before this ruling, so this changes nothing.

Very true.

What's happening now isn't happening in a vacuum. Dubya, Obama, Donald I, and Biden all took ever-terrible incremental steps to normalize the fascism we're experiencing today.
