To note, this is the share of Linux computers visiting US goverment's web sites. In India, for example, the share is already higher.

And it's really a great operating system. Yes, not everything works perfectly out of the box, esp. in edge cases, but that is also the case for Windows. And it's totally liberating to have an operating system that is not constantly trying to screw you and that gives you the power to fix errors.

I wish that it would. Just take a look at the shitshow that is Windows Update and how many issues are there with such a standard process that should simply work.

For me personally, the things that don't work on Windows are mostly annoying things, but the things that don't work on Linux are experience breaking (first that come to mind: Xbox dongle doesn't work, Logitech Ghub app isn't supported, and Davnici resolve was broken last time I tried it)

That site (https://analytics.usa.gov/) shows OS usage on all platforms, mobile and TV included. If you select “current calendar year” as the time frame (to smooth out short term changes), the total desktop OS (Windows, Mac, Linux, Chrome OS) usage is about 50%, Linux usage is about 6%. 6% out of 50% is 12%. So, according to the site, Linux usage is about 12% of desktop market share.

Ah yes, windows making it's way from fuck around to find out finally. The biggest problem: Microsoft makes a shit ton with vertical integration. It's not windows, but the shit they can push with it. And all that goes away now. This will genuinely hurt, and as a consequence windows might become more enticing.
