Soap2day is DEAD!!! (lemmy.dbzer0.com)
submitted 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) by midimap755@lemmy.dbzer0.com to c/piracy@lemmy.dbzer0.com

It is a sad day and year for Piracy. Soap2Day was the best of the best. So was RARBG.

Why are all these piracy sites dropping like flies? There was no warning/explanation for why they went down. Higher running/maintenance cost doesn't explain it, because why not just temporarily shut down until the bills come down? Plus, the timing is bang in the middle of the reddit protest too, which is setting my conspiracy alarms off.

No need to panic mateys, try these great alternatives:

You can also visit Movies & TV section in the Megathread for way more options.

i made an account just to say thank you for these links, you are awesome.

[-] jcksn1124@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 year ago

im confused; these are soap2day but different? are they actually the same site? if so, why do they still exist?

[-] aBoredPirate@lemmy.dbzer0.com 14 points 1 year ago

Jesus christ. Cant even post it to reddit and it feels wrong. But jesus christ. It was like gods library of content in there. great service, high quality, little to no scummy ads. I remember it from day one. Fucking christ.

This is one of the reasons why I set up my own media server with jellyfin.

[-] darkstar@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 year ago

Was it easy to setup a server with jellyfin? I've done a little bit of research about it but not too much, just wandering what your experience is with it

[-] Veni_Vidic_Vici@vlemmy.net 2 points 1 year ago

Yeah it's quite easy. It took me barely a couple of hours to set up an entire server of sonarr/radarr/jackett/qbittorrent/jellyfin/jellyseer.

[-] mdwhite999@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Did you have a guide that you followed?

[-] Lord_Nikon@lemmy.dbzer0.com 13 points 1 year ago

Alot of pirate communities are disappearing without much explanation as of late.... Is there something going on here 🤔

For not so smart people like me- can someone explain how/what role AI plays in all of this?

[-] LlamaSutra@sh.itjust.works 9 points 1 year ago

AI can search multiple things at the same time really fast. It can also detect patterns super quick. It probably is doing something like looking for multiple users accessing high bandwidth or something. I dunno. This might not even be happening. Just a guess 😆

Why are all these piracy sites dropping like flies?

Soap2Day was the best of the best. So was RARBG.

[-] shostakov1ch@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 year ago

I guess, the rising server costs and the war have got something to do with it.

Stremio is the best app for movies and series. I've never seen anything like it.

[-] agentshags@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 year ago

Maybe I can finally talk my kids into torrent sites now, those lazy little shits 😂

[-] TheButtonJustSpins@infosec.pub 1 points 1 year ago

Set up a Jellyfin stack. Makes it super easy for them.

Looks like some of the mirrors are still up? But the message says

"Hello guys: We have decided to close soap2day forever. We are very sorry :) Bye"

So maybe the mirror sites will be going down soon?

[-] Y0za@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 year ago

Stremio + Torrentio is what you need in life man lol

Been relying on this one for years. I also have no idea what else is out there.

[-] LlamaSutra@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 year ago

Search “FMHY” there’s an entire list of hundreds of different options.

For people asking for an alternative, it is not the same exact thing, but 123series.net can really do the job imo for all movies series

[-] ripsoap2day@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 1 year ago

literally i'm so sad it had subtitles AND all of my wrasslin ppvs. struggling to find an alternative that can do that last one :(

[-] paso0407@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 1 year ago

goku.sx works great for me

[-] minimar@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

I misread the URL as "goku sux"

They have gone? I barely used it, but when I was about to use it always helped me out. I miss especially rarbg R.I.P.

[-] Zagvus@lemmynsfw.com 5 points 1 year ago

It had the best video quality! :(

I also had made for myself a simple bookmarklet to pick a random episode, since they were all on the same page. To watch Futurama, Simpsons, etc. Like so:

javascript:(function() {var eps = document.querySelectorAll('.col-sm-12 > a');window.location.pathname = eps[Math.floor(Math.random()*eps.length)].getAttribute('href')})();

[-] N0RM@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 1 year ago

I was legit watching something, changed to another episode and bam, got hit with it

[-] MsAlbanyEvans@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 year ago

I had the same thing happen! I finished an episode and bam! "Gone forever" message.

[-] Blackbeard@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 year ago

damn a lot of services are dropping out of the game lately. I'm worried about the future of piracy

[-] Noisey@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 year ago

I tried to find out what happened and found this because of the reddit protest. Was watching Lower Decks and then the farewell was given. Felt bad. Soap2day was just so streamlined. o7 Take care king.

[-] Laconic@beehaw.org 4 points 1 year ago

This was my goto. Anyone have an alternative they want to recommend?

[-] NakaPlatinum@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 year ago

I think 123series.net is the way to go in term of alternative imo (for movie and series I don't remember what was on soap2day)

https://fmovies.llc/home the fmovie site uses the main streaming sources that all the movies and tv shows comes from and offers all available streaming of each server available has the best quality in my opinion and nicely organized site as well

What even is Soap2day? Was it a streaming site? I always thought 123movies was king.

[-] Vg_Ace@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 year ago

It is a very sad day indeed. I have been using Soap2day for years. Does anybody know a good site that allows downloads or a good browser add-on that helps you to download? Obviously these sites make it difficult for a reason and I understand that. But there has got to be a way to download them for offline viewing, right?

I think it was a dominoe effect. it all started when biohazard went down. then they started dropping like dominoes. I still dont know what settings rarbg used for their encodes.

[-] unknownmd@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 year ago

Any of these sites allow f12/ inspect elements? Or anyone know ways around that inspect element block? I used to grab all the 720p from soap.... So sad!

[-] minimar@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

If you're just interested in having a download button, try Stremio.

[-] unknownmd@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 year ago

thanks man. Unforunately torrents are a no go for my ISP need VPNs. I must have grabbed thousands of movies via F12/ inspect element for years with soap. I guess no one is serving content like that any more. :( super sad
