I wish Firefox would stop shoving the large lying machine down my throat and go back to just making a really good browser.

They aren't requiring you to use an LLM. It adds support to let Firefox extensions query an LLM. That doesn't require you to use an LLM if you have philosophical or other objections to doing so.

As much as it pains me to say, majority of people actually use these tools. If you want Firefox to add new features and grow it needs to implement basic modern features like llm support.
