My friends and I have been exhausting our current library of games and are looking for suggestions. It tends to be pretty hard for us to all meet at the same time. Usually we prefer to do stuff that we can finish in one session on the weekends because one person might have to leave as another person joins. Don't mind if its new or old, but id prefer it not to be $60 if its going to be a 2hr stint

Games on our current rotation:

  • Civ VI
  • Deep rock galactic
  • CS:GO
  • War thunder

Don't really play anymore

  • Apex
  • L4D2
  • Payday 2
  • Gmod
  • Day of infamy
  • Insurgency
  • Project Zomboid
  • Foxhole
  • Risk of rain 2
  • Don't starve together
  • Verdun
  • Killing floor
  • Minecraft
  • Terraria

This is an odd one, but Powerwash Simulator has been an blast for me and my wife. We used to play a lot of Overwatch, but didn't like the new direction with 2. It somehow manages to scratch some of the shooter itch while being really chill.

What do u think about League of Legends? It's lots of fun with friends & u can queue in parties of 5 (the team limit across the game) maximum. Should u not have a full party, u can queue with whoever's ready to play and have randoms autofill.

I really like playing League and especially with friends. If everyone's a total newbie to the game then it's better to make friends with someone who can coach you .. or just play customs v bots πŸ˜„πŸ§‘

I've had lots of fun playing the game over the years and don't mind playing alone or teamed-up 😁 Takes some getting used to if* u aren't acquainted with mobas but trust me when I say it's a world of fun once one gets the hang of it (ime & mi mates' anyway).

I've over time moved on to playing aram (a single-lane accelerated mode). It's more chaotic haha but also sweet for learning how to dodge and read through the fow 🌁

I hope u find a game !! πŸ€—

Monster Hunter World and/or Rise.

warframe is a lot of fun

Outlast Trials is the big coop fun surprise of the year for me. You can also still buy it 25% off on epic for like 20€ until today.

People should not ignore this game cause it is from the outlast series. This game has way less jumpscares and its more about the tension of being chased all the time. Also way less scary in coop than in solo. It's more like Deadbydaylight meets L4D2 mobs. Level and Character Design reminds me off Bioshock. The coop fun is comparable to Phasmophobia

Squad! super fun game to play with friends. It's an FPS that isn't as hard to learn as Arma and more milsim than an arcade shooter like battlefield.

I've had a lot of fun playing Grounded. Both with friends and solo. Someone needs to host the session but it is a shared save file that keeps up to date very well. So, any individual can play at any time or up to 4 can play online together.

Saving this post because it's right up my alley so now I have many new games to check out. Project Zomboid is still going strong for us, but here are some others that our group has enjoyed:

Heave Ho: super crude 2D graphics, but absolutely hilarious gameplay

The Ascent: beautiful cyberpunk-themed isometric shooter

Broforce: very entertaining pixel-art 2D platformer/shooter - we played this through to the end, which is rare for us

Overcooked: very entertaining 3D game, not sure what I would even call the genre - a "work" game?

Unrailed: similar to uncooked, but a different kind of "work"

SWAT 4: old 3D FPS, but still good

The Ascent is fun with friends. It's a cyberpunk diablo style thing.

Insurgency Sandstorm is my go to. 8 player co-op vs ai bots, but with a degree of realism. A well placed headshot will drop an enemy instantly but the same can happen to you.

For your base building survival fix, I highly recommend Raft or Subnautica Nitrox, the unofficial multiplayer mod

If you hate your friends or want to hate your friends, try Pico Park or Overcooked. Also the space game Heavenly Bodies, but it's only 2-player

Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime is a local co-op where you share the controls of a spaceship. Your goal is to save the space bunnies. Not quite the same style as the games on your list but it's inexpensive and cute.

Core Keeper has a Terraria / Zelda: Link to the Past vibe if you are looking for something like that.

[-] priapus@lemmy.one 1 points 1 year ago

I don't know how much you'd like it since the shooters on your list aren't super similar, but Xdefiant should be releasing soon and is f2p. I really enjoyed the closed betas. There's an open one June 21-23 if you want to give it a try.

Spiritfarer is a very sweet cartoon game about death where you can play couch co-op with your other player being a kitty. HIGHLY recommend this game, but don't be surprised if it makes you bawl your eyes out.

[-] semibreve42@lemmy.dupper.net 1 points 1 year ago

Based on your played games you would probably all enjoy World of Warships. It’s F2P, possible to play and enjoy without spending money (though of course spending money does allow you to get more stuff), has deep gameplay and large learning curve but matches are all less then 20 minutes.

[-] fl1ghtless@beehaw.org 1 points 1 year ago

DayZ can be fun. Building up a base and trying to survive together. A bit of a learning curve but a very social game. Especially if you find a good private PVE server.

[-] Epicurus@fedia.io 1 points 1 year ago

Vermintide and Vermintide 2 are great games in my opinion that expand and innovate on the L4D2 formula, being similar but still very distinct.

[-] mdwhite999@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

If you enjoyed risk of rain 2 I would recommend the binding of Isaac which is another roguelike

[-] Lols@feddit.nl 1 points 1 year ago

overcooked, though its only got the one campaign and little replay ability

phasmophobia is extremely fun, though getting into it brand new can probably be a bit overwhelming

fall guys is a pretty fun party style game, pretty casual and all

skribbl.io is a little browser charades with drawing type deal if youre just feeling like doing something easy and low effort

valheim i definitely recommend if youre into terraria dst and minecraft together, same with the forest

[-] EsotericEmbryo@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

World War Z Aftermath is a great multiplayer game and also cross-platform!

Foxhole seems really great when playing with multiple friends. If you're two, I loved playing Portal 2 in coop. I'm currently playing Hunt Showdown with my friends.
