True placed an order at a restaurant. Instead of the waiter going straight to the kitchen to relay the order, the waiter stopped for what I assume is a lengthy chat with another customer.

Fair, but imagine that you're in the 1920s and there are very few comics available to you. The newspapers and magazines are the only media that presents them.

Yeah I get that, but even by the 90s comic strip standards (the last time I regularly read newspaper comics) it’s terribly dated.
