Go to Google Maps and find the place you want to measure. Use "Layers" to switch to Satellite view. Then in the Layers menu select Measure. Now you can drop points around the border of the area to be measured! The total area in distance and square footage (meters) shows up!

What kind of accuracy are we talking? Should be able to find a football field or something with a known size and compare. I'd do it but I'm on the toilet right now.

I used it just now to figure out how much dirt to order to cover my yard (re-seeding with grass) so that's accurate enough for me I'm not doing rocket science here.

It's not very accurate, but it is a good ballpark number.

It actually is pretty accurate, within inches when measuring across relatively short distances. Try it yourself by measuring a known quantity like a baseball field or football field. Accuracy will obviously degrade over much longer distances, but it is more than sufficient to measure your yard.

I didn’t know you could do this. Thank you!

What is a Life Pro Tip?

A Life Pro Tip (or an LPT) is a specific action with definitive results that improves life for you and those around you in a specific and significant way.

Keep in mind that an aphorism is not a LPT.

An aphorism is a a short clever saying that is intended to express a general truth or a concise statement of a principle.

Examples of aphorisms:

"A barking dog never bites."

"No snowflake in an avalanche ever feels responsible."

"All stones are broken stones."
