I haven't seen this app suggested, so I'm sharing it in case anyone likes it.

Try Thunder: https://github.com/hjiangsu/thunder

You can install and autoupdate using: https://github.com/ImranR98/Obtainium

It's missing features and performance really starts chugging after a few minutes of scrolling, but updates are in the pipeline

I haven’t used wefwef yet, but I’m on Liftoff right now it’s pretty good. Mlem and Memmy are okay. So far I haven’t really felt like any of edged ahead.

Like all lemmy apps. Lemmy is relatively new and its apps included.

Thunder is OK for now, until Sync comes out

Thanks for raising awareness. Seeing a lot of liftoff, connect, jerboa and wefwef but not as much thunder. I personally like thunder the best so far of the four.

Also, pro tip, we can all prefer different apps! There is no right or wrong app, there's just whichever is right for you!

Have tried Thunder, Jerboa, Liftoff. I'm finding the web app wefwef.app better though, since it's based on Apollo and has a really nice UI/UX.

Thanks for the obtanium hint. New to me.

I was sceptical at first, but it’s great! It properly parses repos, it shows you a preview of where you’re about to download from, and if there are multiple assets in a release it lets you pick the right one. And then it does auto-updates just like an F-Droid client!

Also installable via the IzzyOnDroid f-droid repo.

You can also get in on F-Droid.

Been using it so far and like it very much. Some minor issues here and there but nothing serious.

I'm using it, I like it a lot so far. Only downside is it seems to be 60hz limited

[-] 332@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Yeah, this is the one I like the most of the current available ones.

Tried "Memmy" before and right now I like Thunder a bit more. The UI looks cleaner to me, it works well. Good job, I have put it on my phone where I used to have Apollo.

I’m trying it now too, thanks for the comment, but if you’re an ex-Apollo like me, I highly recommend giving a try to Wefwef.app. It’s a web app but you can install it on your screen and looks almost identical to Apollo and feels very much like home. I discovered it today thanks to another comment and I can’t believe this exists.

I have just read about it in a different comment as well, tried it and it does feel a bit like coming home. Thank you for recommending it to me as well, it's wonderful to see that it gets easier and easier to take part here!

Yep, I'm using obtainium for lemmy apps currently though since the update intervals are pretty short considering they are in alpha.

Love this app at the moment - it will have a fight when SyncForLemmy comes out.

[-] myxi@feddit.nl 0 points 1 year ago

Sync isn't going to be FOSS, so no, there is no competition, IMO.
