Is anybody buying whey isolate from them? Right now I am buying Body Energy Club‘s clean isolate and it got quite pricey in recent months.

I see that Canadian Protein has vanilla with stevia and also unflavoured in bulk. Great pricing. How is the quality and (non) flavour?

I see some bad reviews regarding shipping and customer service that worries me a bit. Especially since they offer some sort of “shipping protection” for $7.99 at checkout?!

Any input would be appreciated!

I've been buying from them for about 10 years. Besides that window of time a few years ago where they were out of stock on everything (I think they were in the middle of moving to a different warehouse?), I've never had any problems with them.

I get their whey concentrate and casein, unflavoured or their most basic chocolate flavour (currently chocolate milkshake). It does the job. Nothing to write home about. And I never paid for whatever that shipping protection is.

Thanks for the great input. I’ll try it I think. The bulk is soooo much cheaper than what I pay now and I would prefer one large delivery over many.

I got my order and the vanilla is ok. It’s not as good as the one from BEC but I pay more. BEC price for 2x 2kg is more than CP charges for 6x 2kg!! I’ll have to try the unflavoured too and see what I prefer but I think that’s going to save me a ton of money!

My wife has ordered twice from them. Between Leanfit and Canadian Protein (at least for creatine) she prefers Canadian Protein.

Their flavours are good. I don’t consume much but the banana and French vanilla flavour protein are baller. She sometimes makes me surprise smoothies.

I last counted like 4 bags of protein and creatine in my cupboard all from them so I’d say based on my wife’s spending and obsessive researching on any of her latest obsessions, Canadian Protein is pretty good.

I live pretty rural and haven’t had any shipping issues.

Thanks! We are rural too so that’s good to know that shipping wasn’t an issue for you. I use the protein in my overnight oats with lots of fruit so no flavour is preferred but good to know they are tasting better than Leanfit (didn’t like that at all).

Super interested too. From BC I often buy from New Zealand but there should be a Canadian brand

What are you buying right now?

CP has a sale right now I might just order two 1kg (vanilla and unflavoured) to try but I am a little leery about the shipping charge/protection thing.

Edited to add: I just ordered 1kg each based on the comment by @howrar and will report back!

I’ve tried Diesel and ProteinCo. The latter was the only truly “plain” flavour I’ve found so far, Diesel sent me “vanilla” instead which is not the same thing.

But other than flavour options, I don’t have any strong opinions regarding these two brands. They were both fine.

[–] bowreality@lemmy.ca 1 points 3 months ago

I used to buy Diesel but the vanilla was very artificial. Less so than Leanfit but both aren’t great. I haven’t had unflavoured yet.

I've only had good experiences buying their vegan protein blends. The brown rice protein is possibly the easiest protein powder on your stomach around.

I ordered large batches of their vegan powders and I found them very good, the peaches and cream one is tasty by itself. The chocolate one is fine. Sorry I can't vouch for the vanilla or unflavored. Never took the shipping protection and never had any problem.

However, I never was able to verify the independent lab's testings, the QR codes gave 404 error pages.

[–] bowreality@lemmy.ca 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Thanks! I’ll try that QR code when I get my order.

[–] howrar@lemmy.ca 2 points 3 months ago

I don't know what this QR code thing is, but they do have a page where you can enter the lot number printed on the bag and get the lab report. I last checked about a month ago and everything was in working order.

If you're looking for other suggestions, 2pure's pretty good, a chocolate maker in Calgary started making them a year or two ago.
